The work mentions already conducted research on similar topics and the issue of choosing a teaching job. Qualitative research is used to obtain the necessary data by means of semi-structured in-depth interviews with students of the first year of computer science teaching at the Faculty of Education of the University of South Bohemia. The obtained data are then processed by methods of qualitative analysis and conclusions are drawn from the results. The aim of the work is to find out the main motives and reasons for new students of the Faculty of Education, more precisely students with a field of study in com-puter science, to choose the study of computer science teaching, and to jus-tify the long-term lack of teachers with computer science approval. The re-sults show that the most important factors that lead to the choice of the pro-fession of computer science teacher are the overall view of the teaching pro-fession, the previous influence of primary and secondary school teachers on students, as well as good experience with computer science in previous edu-cation. primary, or later at secondary school, and certainly also cases where students choose the faculty of education only after leaving another universi-ty, which they graduate either due to difficulty or failure to fulfill their ide-as.
How can Factors Underlying Human Preferences Lead to Methods of Formal Characterizations towards Developing Safe Artificial General Intelligence?
Al-Nusair, Rana Ghalib ; Špelda, Petr (advisor) ; Butler, Eamonn (referee) ; Biagini, Erika (referee)
This research aims to investigate the Artificial Intelligence (AI) value alignment problem, which refers to the challenge in developing a safe and reliable AI that can achieve our goals and adhere to our values as we intend it to do. A misaligned AI, especially one which transcends all domains of cognitive abilities and has acquired vast computational powers, will be nearly impossible to manage and it will threaten our security. Research addressing this problem is now focused on understanding how to develop AI that can reliably infer our values from our preferences. Thus, preferences are the primary conceptual unit of analysis to the AI value alignment problem. This paper investigates our preferences and seeks to shed light on the issue of obtaining a formal truth that is fundamentally constitutive of our preferences, for the aim of using said formal truth to create a value aligned AI. To do this, this paper gathers data from economics, biological evolution, and neurocognitive studies to bridge the current gaps on the conceptual problem of preferences. The paper concludes with presenting a new kind of security dilemma which stems from the notion of combining a general theoretical framework that fully captures our preferences with the crucial elementof uncertainty inAI, effectively showcasing how...

Sophie's Choice - Trauma of the Holocaust Survivor
Dombrovská, Lucia ; Ulmanová, Hana (advisor) ; Veselá, Pavla (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the Holocaust trauma and its depiction in William Styron's novel Sophie's Choice. Many novelists have endeavoured to describe this phenomenon in their works of art, but most of them were confronted with a great challenge - to depict the story they didn't experience, a story of the Holocaust survivor. William Styron is one of them. Therefore it is necessary to consider how precise depiction the novelist offers to his readers. The aim of this work is to analyze Styron's novel and discover whether Sophie's choice includes an authentic depiction of the Holocaust survivor's trauma. The first chapter of the work focuses on trauma. Its aim is to define trauma and research this phenomenon in wider context. There are many psychological theories of trauma and its treatment. For the purpose of this work Jungian psychoanalytic approach has been chosen. C. G. Jung and his disciples have widely explored the inner world of patients suffering from trauma. Moreover, psychoanalysis has made great effort to describe how trauma manifests itself through archetypal imagery and symbols present in dreams and fantasies of traumatized patients. Therefore this psychological theory is applicable when analyzing a work of art. The most widespread psychological diagnosis of people who have...
Should I Stay or Should I Go? - The Attractiveness/Unattractiveness of Portugal & Spain for Asylum Seekers
Branco Coelho, Cláudia Sofia ; Gebhardt, Dirk (advisor) ; Czerska-Shaw, Karolina (referee)
Drawing on the research object of migration, mostly focused on the inclusion of asylum seekers in the European Union (EU hereinafter), this Master thesis aims at measuring the attractiveness/unattractiveness of EU countries on welcoming asylum seekers in. The method used, is then, the comparison of Portugal and Spain, two similar countries, but with quite different outcomes. Furthermore, this work suggests that external factors are on the scope of forced migration, so issues as choice on the destination country, migrant networks, previous knowledge and the integration policies make a country attractive or not. The final results bring to light the interesting findings that asylum seekers coming legally to Portugal would rather live illegal anywhere else. Moreover, even though Spain appears as a relatively more "successful" country on attracting asylum applications, it also shares the same push factors as Portugal.
